Ok, have been trying to confirm that you can indeed take two crafts to expert rather than 1. It's an understanding people seem to have but having hit 399 and on the brink of taking a skill to expert the mesage on the NPC says that basically you can only expert the one craft.
So having dug around I have discovered that you can ultimately get two to expert; but you are only allowed to be 'progressing' one through the expert levels at one time. So if you get two skills to 399, you need to pick which one you want to take to 449 first, and only when it has maxed out at 449 can you then attempt to progress the second one through the expert levels to 449. You can not level both at the same time.
