hello all,

been a little concerned with all the accounts that have been getting hacked not sure if its just users being stupid with phishing sites or keylogers, we know kas got hacked and it seems legholas may have been hacked aswell.

things that will hopefully help(will state some obvious ones just incase)

anti virus i use avg cos its free and has a better detection rate than many of the charged ones.

try not to use your game log on details for any forums or sites you log on to on the web. lots of people just use 1 username and pass for everything.

assuming your pc is secure in your home saving a username and password is normally a good thing stops keylogers from getting the details.
sure they can hack the password file and decrypt it but thats alot of hassle.

any sites forums that you do use if you bookmark them then you are unlikely to end up in a fake page.

most phishing peeps will pretend that you have already had your details stolen to try and steal your details when you log in to reset your password.

one thing that i have done to hopefully avoid key loggers while logging in to aion, i have created a text document which with my password in it which i can cut and paste from.

Lehgolas has been hacked too :-(

They changed password on account and everything. He has contacted support don't know if he had any luck with them yet.

This is a very new account that has been hacked. He created it one of the last days in december but didn't really start to play until last week since he had first bought the NA version of the game and had a lot of customer support conversations about them changing it to EU for him. So there is no real value in that account besides a lvl 18 gladiator that they deleted. Why steal a normal account (no ce version or anything) and delete everything? What do they get from that?

What worries me about this game is that it seems to be so many that are hacked without going to phishing sites or anything they just lose their accounts :-(

from what i have heard they steal the accounts sell whatever gear there is and then bot the characters and spam gold chat till the acc is banned or returned, but deleting a gladiator to go make a gadiator bot seems very daft.

does leave me wondering how many of the other people who left the guild recentley got hacked aswell?

I seemed to get into mine okay.
I have Windows Defender, McAfee and Spybot on my PC to help prevent phishers. Also google seems very good at picking up phishing emails so I've been okay so far.

As you say though very worrying that some of the newest to aion have had they accounts stolen. Thats awful.

Trianna, I've read your post. I'm not a stupid user :-(!!!!!! I'm a software engineer !!!! lol

But that's ok ;-). All I have to say is that I guess it was a server side weakness. I'm pretty experienced about this kind of attacks and I don't think it was phishing or keylogers.

But of course I can only guess. One thing is certain I've never typed my password anywhere else but the game.

So, maybe they are getting some attacks and just don't want us to know.

But it is only thoughts

Didn't say you were stupid just that you got hacked to ;-)

And it is really worrying if it is a server side problem cause then it could happen to any one of us since you can't really protect yourself against it :-(

But i'm here to tell GOOD NEWS!!!

I'm back. It took 3 days and they reset my account password. But unfortunately my old Lehgolas was gone :-(. Trianna (my love) is already helping me to lvl up fastermy new Lehgolas. I'm counting on you too guys ;-). Weapons, armors...for low leves, please save for me :-)
